Konk of the head vertigo
Chicken Soup
On Tuesday around noon, I was cooking a batch of chicken soup when I ended up with a konk on the head, followed the next days by vertigo. I felt no different from any other day Tuesday morning. No sign of vertigo. In other words, there was no foreshadowing of how messed up I would be in a few minutes. I have a happy life—would have been singing while I cooked, but the dog would have howled.
Great Whites Migrate to Florida
We DO have great white sharks in Florida. They migrate to warmer climates during winter. They move south to the coast of the Carolinas and Florida. Their long swim to the waters of South Florida begins as far north as Canada. Many call Florida (like our snowbirds) their winter home. All the way through spring, divers and fishermen report sightings.
In December, 2019, six great white sharks were spotted swimming off Florida’s coast. OCEARCH, an agency that collects ocean data, located tagged great whites making their migration. Three were off the coast of Jacksonville, where the water temps range from 65-67 degrees, ideal for these huge creatures. The six identified shark’s names are Nova, Sydney, Cabot, Ironbound, Unama’ki, and Hudson. They were all captured at an earlier date, and released with trackers so OCEARCH can see where they are.
A New Critter in Our House
Fell in love with the work-of-art a while back. I finally had to buy it. Thank you, Tommy.
Love this man. (And our new lobster)
We also have a large green turtle shell and a small stuffed green turtle from a turtle farm.
Here he is!
COOL FACTS ABOUT LOBSTERS
Lobsters are called “bugs” because their nervous system is like those of grasshoppers and ants.
Fun Trivia 2
Here comes more trivia fun. Round 2! If we get enough playing, we might have a contest.
- Where is the annual Frog Festival held?
- What weird (Maybe disgusting) ingredient is in Casu Marzu Sardinian cheese?
- What were Kleenex tissues originally made for?
- Why are some men dipping their testicles in soy sauce? (Now, there’s a good one)
- The Dutch village of Giethoorn has no what?
Weird Trivia For Fun
Hi folks,
I love trivia, and the older I get the more I realize my tiny brain is clogged with a plethora of weird and ridiculous information. FYI, that’s why I can’t remember stuff. Some things I heard long ago, and some more recent–reading books, magazines, newspapers, billboards, overhearing conversations… I have no idea where most of it has come from. So, since I find trivia so much fun, I have some crazy trivia questions for you. I’m putting the trivia out in question form. Maybe some of you will play along. I hope so. No cheating with Google etc. That takes the fun out. Here we go with question number 1-3.
Second home is home
Well, we probably overdid ourselves, but what the heck. (Somebody, tell me we only live once!) It has been on my bucket list, but before “bucket list” became part of our vernacular. I think I got the wanderlust from my dad who often said to me, “Stick with me kid, and I’ll show you the world.” And he showed me a lot of it. My mother loved more exotic travels, like Africa and India. She was especially enamored with big cats. My father was drawn to European countries, like England, Scotland, France, Germany, Austria, and the Scandinavian countries. He was an avid golfer, and my folks owned a second home for six months out of the year in St. Andrews, Scotland, the home of golf and The Old Course. I suppose, after taking all this into consideration, I credit my relish for seeing new sights and the enchantment attached to my beloved parents. I can’t possibly come close to their adventures, at least not yet. I am just starting out. So, friends, here it is. Our new second home is home in our driveway. I’ll keep you posted on our escapades.
Big Bad Gators
Alligators seem to be in attack mode in Florida.
There seem to be more and more nuisance alligator reports and gator attacks recently in Florida. Jeff Corwin, a biologist and wildlife conservationist has some explanations.
Me in High School
Can you guess which one is me.
First Lady of the Sea, Bonnie, The Bait Lady.
Bonnie, The Bait Lady, leads almost a fictional life is what her daughter says. And when you see what she does every day, you would have to agree. There hasn’t been a time when my husband and I go fishing in the area of the mouth of the Homosassa River where it empties into the Gulf of Mexico that we haven’t seen and visited The Bait Lady. She is always friendly, seems easy going, and my goodness, she has the best fresh bait that she catches herself. Bonnie has a doctorate in history, has been a sculptor, lecturer, and teacher.
